Crowder Trade School
Crowder Trade School
The Crower Trade School received its name to honor Bruce and Crower for their financial contributions. In 1993 the first classes started in Magi Ya Chai village, a small community not far off the main highway. The students attend for 1-2 years, learning and developing their skills and working together in their chosen trade. Upon graduation they each proudly receive their certificate, enabling them to seek and find work.
Tuition is $100.00 a year, which doesn’t cover all the cost, so the balance is covered by the ministry. Trades currently offered include:
Masonry: Much of the building construction in Tanzania is masonry, thus a valuable trade to teach young men and will provide them with jobs and business opportunities for a lifetime.
Welding: This trade gives the graduate opportunities to work in a fabricating shop or the construction field. Some students choose to learn both welding and masonry, increasing their opportunities of employment and business.
Carpentry: This training prepares the student to work in building construction or furniture building and cabinetry as well. This broadens their opportunities to find and maintain employment or develop their own business career.
Sewing: This is a career opportunity for both men and women. This trade allows students to be employed or for an ambitious graduate to set up a small storefront business. Some graduates establish relationships during school and decide to work together.
Culinary: This is the most recent trade added to the Crower Trade School. As in the other trades, there are opportunities for the graduates to find jobs and build successful careers for men and women alike.
Crower Trade School is looking for people to partner with to help financially and tradesmen who could contribute to student’s skills and perhaps help establish new trade classes and facilities.
